This sprite could use less shades due to the small area of it. You also need to spread the brightest shade around more. especially in the feet.

If you change the look of a character this much (skinny oblivious happy to largeheaded intense angry) you might want to make an entirely new character in stead.

Also confused as to why you would remove his pants. 0.o

Okay then, anatomy makes no since. One arm is four pixels thick while the other arm is only two. Both feet look horribly misshapen. I have no idea what that red thing around the neck is supposed to be. (Perhaps a scarf.) And the hands are hard to identify. The only way to tell that they are indeed hands is since they are at the ends of the arms.
The colors are overdone. WAY overdone! You have four shades of yellow when only two is necessary. You have five shades of Grey when no more than three is needed. You have four shades of red. And you have five shades of brown. All together that's 18 colors. Even a sprite four times that size wouldn't use so much color. Not to mention that you have about three light sources.
