He looks like someone who would wear a cape.

or a scarf

Reply Yamataro, May 21st, 2009, 9:46 am

A CAPE! That's what's missing... Yeah. I'll edit it and post later.
@ Gata: He doesn't have one. It would interfer with the armor. So instead he's not so much a netnavi, as a rouge bit of information (data) that soon gathered other data pieces and eventually came out with this look. He could almost be considered a Virus.

So, he's a viral navi?

Reply Yamataro, May 21st, 2009, 12:47 pm

In a way, yeah.

Thought it was MMZ style for a moment. :U

Looks nice, but in my opinion the fringe looks huge.

Needs more contrast in the black.

If you're going to recolor then at least make a decent palette. Warm colors on highlights, cool on shadows, or warm on shadows, cool on hightlights.

Here's a big discussion on color theory in pixel art:

The majority of the hair seems to spawn from his forehead out of nowhere. Try to show that it's not magically appearing out of nothing, but is actually evenly distributed. Oh, and the shading makes no sense. Where's the lightsource?

The face has no shading. Remember that the face is 3 dimensional too, and not just a flat surface which the eyes and mouth are painted on. Don't give me crap about them not being shaded in the videogames. In the games there's a cloth covering half the face, which would lead to over complication of the area. You have a full face exposed, shade it.

I see.

That, and Megaman battle network is a pretty simple style to work in. Did you really HAVE to edit this? They use outlines on all the forms, and there's no real texture or detail on the forms.

Yes I had to. Mainly for a comic I'm going to be in.
