Dear god this took hours to finish. It's King K. Rool from the Donkey Kong series in M&L3 style. Fully made from scratch.

Good, good. Though the shading looks a bit mirror'd, like there's lights on both sides of him.

I agree with Z. It looks like you made half of him then fliped and edited...

Did you ever notice how the idle M&L poses are made? Nintendo sprited half of it then copied and flipped, that's all part of the style.
Breaker just followed the style.

Blue's right, the only exception is if one side is different then the other, changes are made to meet that side.

On this sprite, that exception would be the crown and the eye.

Each direction of the M&L run poses are just flips on the forward and backwards poses, too.

No offense to those who say that the shading looks mirrored, but you don't know what your talking about. M&L overworld sprites always have mirrored shading. Take your standard Mario, or even Bowser, they are all mirrored. The reason is that the light source for this style always comes from above. Not the left, nor the right.

Breaker I think this sprite is superb!
I would suggest that you take it to TSR and ask for some C+C. There harsh, but the best in the business! Take their criticism and this could very easily turn into a submittable sheet!

Nintendo can get away with flipping the sprites because the light source in M&L sprites is straight above so both sides would be shaded the same.
Excellent sprite Breaker my only complaint would be that the crown seems a bit off and perhaps more contrast in the belly area. It looks a bit flat there.

@Fm: As fun as that sounds, I'm not planning to go that far with the sprite I mostly made it for pure fun and for an upcoming comic.

@pmeier: I see what you mean. It's kind of hard to decide on the contrast for the belly area. SNES-era artwork has K. Rool's belly look more like golden armor, but in current artwork it's become quite fleshy-looking. I'll probably go edit it later.
