You're so funny and cool I forgot to think of something witty to say.
And Jpeg is stupid.

Reply Christh^^, March 3rd, 2010, 9:24 pm

Or you could only use your sprites in your comic/game, and never post them in a showcase.

Most noobs wouldn't goto the trouble to take the sprites out of the comic.

Noobs are lazy assholes you see.

Reply Flashlight Antics, March 7th, 2010, 1:20 am

Sprite "theft" = common practice.

ALL sprite artists do it in some way or another. There are VERY few that did not either use another sprite for a base, edit an existing sprite, or use a sprite style as a reference. And those ones shouldn't be doing sprite work for fun...they should look into getting a F***ING JOB at one of the video game companies.

Everyone, in some way or another, at SOME point in their spriting career, participates in sprite theft. I don't get why everyone gets their f***ing nickers in a twist whenever someone does it. Unless that person steals a whole damn comic or copyrights a sprite you made (unlikely, considering MOST can't be copyrighted...cause they already ARE) then there should be no reason to get all worked up over his obvious ignorance. The creator KNOWS who made it...the creator's friends KNOWS who made it...what the f*** is the big deal?

I'm not trying to justify stupidity, here...but I'll never EVER understand why people get worked up over theft of something that was stolen in its own right.

Wanna know the BEST way to prevent sprite theft?

Class dismissed.

Reply Afroman17, March 7th, 2010, 2:32 am

oddly enough your rant is making this a big deal

also rule of thumb if its on the INTERNET it can be stolen

drawings can get copied and/or traced...

Reply Flashlight Antics, March 7th, 2010, 3:14 am

@Afroman17: I said "prevent SPRITE theft"...I never said prevent theft altogether.

And the fact that you point out that my rant is making a big deal of it is meaningless and stating the obvious. If I hadn't intended to make a big deal of it then it should be assumed that I would leave better off alone and stay the frell out of it, right?

But, then again, we ALL know what assuming does. the future...if someone rants about someone making a big deal of something...don't bother pointing out to that person that they themselves are making a big deal of it. It's pointless and a waste of time besides only stating what was obvious to begin with. I'm smart enough to know when my rants stir a proverbial bee's nest and I'm insulted to think you would assume otherwise.

Reply Afroman17, March 7th, 2010, 12:27 pm

you type all that out assuming I care about read it...
now I wait to be scolded by Zman

Reply Zmanwarrior, March 7th, 2010, 12:38 pm

There, now both of you shut yer yaps.

Reply Flashlight Antics, March 8th, 2010, 12:28 am

@Afroman17: Caring or not, this doesn't change that you DID read it. I'm ASSUMING this because of the tone in which you use. But like a broken record...we ALL know what assuming does.

The only thing I'll add is that people like you make me sick. You give your opinion on a matter and when someone makes a valid argument you drop the subject matter like a bad habit and hide behind apathy. It's sickening, really...

@Zmanwarrior: You know, having read your profile before, I MIGHT have considered dropping this without any just let it slide and move on with my life. But I also have a problem with people like you, as well. You get sick of conflict and drama to the point that you are ready to rip off someones head but you still find SOME way to keep a conflict burning. You're not blowing the fire out, my're fanning the flames.

Think about that the next time you try to get two people to chill out about an argument and maybe you'll actually consider ASKING NICELY. F*** people, are we REALLY beyond simple kindness? How the frell do you think most conflicts get started? (BESIDES cranky, ranting pricks like me who stir a bee's nest because I'm interested to see if there are still intelligent people out there anymore)

Reply Afroman17, March 8th, 2010, 1:30 am

keep lecturing I dont give a Frell let me start by saying you make this too much fun. who's really pulling who's strings like a puppet master here?

but honestly what are You arguing at me about....? Also your 23 (so it says) dont you have something better to do to yell at me?

Zman hes calling you out on your shoddy clean up work here. you better argue back at him to continue the cycle we know as a "flame war".

Reply Flashlight Antics, March 8th, 2010, 2:30 am

@Afroman17: Not to humor you, but I'm done with you. A strong opinion vs. apathy is a battle not only pointless but also an aggravating and ignorant battle to choose.

I'll be the bigger man and step away from this debate that I kindled. I'd enjoy seeing you do the same by not responding...but I doubt you'll let your bloated ego allow that.

Oh, and if I had intended for this to be a "flame war" you would know it. The fact that you decided to fan my fire in the first place only made me wish to continue this useless charade longer then I had intended. I say that YOU fanned MY fire because you made NO comment what so ever about what I was actually ranting about in the first merely stated the obvious, something that rather agitated me in my already irritated state.

Now please, think of something else to say. Come up with another witty little piece of dialogue to throw at me. Come up with another pointless piece of information that we all already knew.

Or you can surprise us all and say nothing in response, becoming a better man because of it. But expectations of your bloated ego not allowing this make me believe that you'll likely respond to my own little piece of useless ranting.

Reply Yamataro, March 8th, 2010, 8:35 am

Ok. This shit has gone on long enough.

@Flashlight: You start your arguement with your point. Yes. We all sprite "Theft", in the form of ripping, and editing. But HONESTY. Listen and listen well. Ok, which of your sprites is your favorite? One that you put countless work in to complete? A full sheet? Now someone takes that sheet. They take it, recolor it and that's all. Then they go around using your hard work. How does that make you feel? Makes you feel like you wasted an hour or so of hard work just for some fag to come along and say, "Nuh uh, Those are MINE!" Sure. In one case, you might have taken that sheet from Sega, Nintendo, but you put your own work on it to make it work. You slaved for hours, or in some cases, days to create a sheet that satisfied you. Now some idiot, with no spelling, with Ideas that think "IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZAH" is still funny, has taken it and is using it, without asking you.

Now listen. There's a difference between taking from Sega and some person. Taking from Sega is ALLOWED by Sega. A friend of mine EMAILED Sega and they replied with "We respect that people use our sheets and we encourage their use for fun." Copyright is only enfringed when used for profit. Get your facts straight.

Last and not least, Zman is a good guy. He has no interest in keeping this shit going. He replied in a ligt hearted manner and you attack him. Attacking the one you are argueing with because of their profile only weakens your arguement to the level of it not being about the arguement and more about getting at that person. So leave the lowly bullshit of, "I respect you but your a piece of shit," out of the arguement. If you have a problem with someone keep it to yourself or discuss it with them in private.

@ Afro: I expected better from you than to argue with someone who obviously wished to start trouble. Just let him say what he wants. I'm tired of shit happening on my posts. Just let it go. Or Z can always ban your comments, same with Flash there.

its been fun... @yama
I guess to say the least that I lurk around I dont know why people expect something of me since I like to troll.

I'll just say Iam sorry for trollin' you with my comments.

Reply Blitzn'Burst, March 8th, 2010, 5:42 pm

........*awesome face*

Reply Flashlight Antics, March 9th, 2010, 2:05 am

@Yama: I'll be brief because I don't think this needs to be taken any further then I've already gone.

I agree with everyone that sprite theft is wrong. I never said it wasn't. I just get rather annoyed when someone overreacts about it. To me, it's like spilled real use to get all flustered about it because it's BOUND to happen.

In closing, I can't really say that my intent was to insult all honesty, my comments toward him were in the heat of the moment and I felt that despite being an asshole at the time I still think that a small bit of respect was do. So I do sincerely apologize to Zman for anything harsh I may have said. I wasn't myself.

I finish by saying that I hope no hard feelings persist.
